This is a very nice meeting to make the point on what's going on in the clear aligners field.As my professional life is a mix of chair-side work, research and teaching I submitted a good mix of my three orthodontic souls as an oral presentations that I am going to present in Venice.I was asking my selfHow well the Clincheck translates into results for standardized Invisalign Lite cases?and I looked for the answer by mentoring the master thesis of former undergraduate student and now Dr Luca Bassani, together with Prof. Alessandra Lucchese in Milan.

When we think about clothes, we basically all agree that custom/tailor made clothes are in general of superior quality with respect to the average boutique S / M / L / XL size dress. This does not mean that we cannot properly dress with standard clothes, but we are aware that a tailor-made suit that fits correctly at any part of the body, after the tailor have carefully measured all of them, will probably look better on us rather than a standard suit.

Birte Melsen was one of the first to loudly denounce that too many times the orthodontic market as a 10x faster speed rather than clinical research and scientific evidence. Manufacturer’s claim of benefits and orthodontic "miracles" can sometimes enchant the believers, disgust the sceptics and being welcomed more or less warmly by the rest of the orthodontic population. I believe that this is a trait of our profession, and we have to live with it

Accelerating orthodontic tooth movement is still a topic of active debate. Speakers presents nicely treated and “accelerated” patients in almost any orthodontic convention, while the literature started to provide some evidence that it does not change that much to use accelerating non-invasive devices.To keep updated easily on the latter scientific arguments, Kevin O’Brian’s blog it’s probably the best way as he has taken a keen interest in the matter and invariably post any new scientific update
